I Used a Discount Prescription Plan to Pay for My Migraine Medication

Do you suffer from migraine headaches like I do? Have you been trying to find a discount pharmacy plan to help pay for your migraine medications? You know a migraine headache is downright debilitating. The pain is so intense that you can’t bear to move. Lights and sounds are excruciating. The nausea becomes so strong that just when you think you can’t move, you have to run to the bathroom before you get sick. There are several medications that can stop a migraine in its tracks, or even prevent them in the first place, but the cost can be so high that if people don’t have affordable prescription plans, they might just have to suffer. I’ve tried discount drug plans, but I’ve been disappointed with their service and their coverage. That’s why I am so glad I found American Health Benefits. American Health Benefits isn’t health insurance. It’s a program that helps lower the costs of your medical expenses from 20% to 45%. It covers doctor’s visits and hospitalization, among other things, but for me the most important coverage are the prescription health plans.

My migraine headaches would strike two or more times a month, so I really needed a medication that would work for me. One of the most frustrating things about getting migraine headaches is finding a medication that works with your own body. The process for finding that medication was long and painful- and really expensive. Like most medications, migraine medicines can cause some uncomfortable side effects and on top of that, it may not work if you don’t take it in time. On the advice of my doctor, I’ve tried lots of different medicines including Imitrex, Relpax, Toprol XL and Zomig. These drugs aren’t cheap. Imitrex costs over $500 a month! Toprol XL runs about $140/monthly, Relpax is about $200 per month and Zomig costs around $195 every month. I don’t know about you, but between the costs of gas and groceries, I don’t have that kind of money lying around. That’s why I am so grateful to American Health Benefits. Their affordable prescription plans save me about 15% on name brand drugs. If that’s not enough, I save about 55% on generic medications. Now that’s savings I can really use.

Some discount pharmacy plans don’t cover brand name drugs and others won’t let me choose a generic substitute when I want one. American Health Benefits isn’t like that. In fact American Health Benefits has the only discount prescription plans I will ever use. The money that I save on both generic and brand name medications makes a real difference in my household budget.
