On October 10th, 2009, there will be a downtown festival in Roanoke, which is known as the unique dining capital of Texas. The festival starts at 10:00 am, and it will end at 10:00 pm. There will be so much more to do than just experience the delicious foods that will be available at the more than 14 food and drink vendors.
There will be four stages of live entertainment, including the Main Street Stage, The Rising Star Stage, Imagination Station, and Miss Albertas Porch. Among the performers will be Todd Mankin, Gary Kyle, Tom McElvain, Mike Mancy and Mark McKinney. The all day event will include a Teddy Bear Clinic, The Ranger Depot with a public safety exhibit, and a Motorcycle Rodeo. In addition, there will be a children's play-area, a children's train , along with many different vendor booths. Children will love the clowns, face painting, storytelling, crafts and games. Magicians and Marionettes will also be there for the children's enjoyment. There will be a fireworks display after dark for young and old alike to enjoy. A street dance and a display of western gunfights will entertain the entire family. If you are a Karaoke fan, there will be a Karaoke contest, as well as a youth vocalist competition. Even Elvis (aka Cody Puckett) will be there to perform.
The Oak Street vendors will be open for shoppers to visit from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. When it comes to great food, Roanoke just can't be beat. The world famous Babe's Chicken, Twisted Root Burger Company, Dove Creek Cafe, Tortilla Flats, Mi Familia and the Classic Cafe, just to name a few, will be open for you to enjoy.
