Please join us for the 2008 Art for the Bridge annual silent art auction, held at the Women’s Museum, Dallas, Texas on Thursday, September 11, and Saturday, September 13!

Art For The Bridge raises funds for The Bridge Breast Network, a non-profit organization that links uninsured and underserved individuals to life-saving breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.  The impact is great.  For each $1 raised, The Bridge Breast Network of healthcare professionals provides $10 of life-saving medical care.  Since its inception in 1992, the network has supported more than 78,000 individuals in 16 North Texas counties.

Art For The Bridge presents a huge opportunity to impact the following startling statistics:

  • Breast cancer has a 98% survival rate when discovered early.
  • 18,000 adults without medical insurance die every year.
  • 1 in 4 Texans are uninsured (most of who are employed).
  • Breast cancer affects 1 in 7 women, and 2 of these 7 are without medical health insurance
  • Uninsured women are more likely to be diagnosed at stage III or IV.
  • Uninsured women are 60% more likely to die.

The Art For The Bridge project organizes an annual silent auction featuring art and works donated by notable art galleries, artists, and collectors.  The events bring together artists, donors and cancer survivors from many areas of the community to raise much-needed funds for the uninsured served by The Bridge.  In 2007, the Art Auction was held at the Gerald Peters Gallery, Dallas, Texas with 40 pieces of juried art in different mediums, such as paintings and sculptures, covering the artistic span, including donated works from George Tobolowsky, Pamela Nelson, Ray-Mel Cornelius, Jane Cornish Smith, and Jamie Pink Weisbrod.

This year, there will be an Artists’ Reception and Preview Party on Thursday, September 11.  The event will feature top-flight entertainment.  The Black Tie Dinner and Art Auction held on Saturday, September 13, will be an intimate and elegant evening.  Both events will take place at the historical Women’s Museum in Dallas, Texas.

Currently, Art for the Bridge is looking for art submissions from artists, galleries, or collectors with a breast cancer connection.  Accepted artwork will be published in 2009 and sold in stores and galleries across Texas.

Art for the Bridge raises money for The Bridge Breast Network, a non-profit, which links uninsured and underserved individuals to life-saving breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.  In 2007, Art for the Bridge's Art Auction raised and donated $100,000 to The Bridge Breast Network.  A $100,000 donation to the Bridge will provide $1,000,000 of breast cancer services and treatments by combining financial contributions with an effective network of medial services and facility donations.
