Achievement Centers For Children
Synopsis

Achievement Centers For Children actually began in 1940 as a small Rotary Club project. The organization has come a long way in the years since, becoming a leader and one of Ohio's most effective programs in the rehabilitation and care of children with disabilities.

These disabilities include physical, sensory, neurological or cognitive disabilities.The program concentrates not only on children, but also on the families of those children. Most programs serve any income level, using sliding-scale fees. (contact ACC for specific details).

According to the group's website, the mission of the program is to "work with children with disabilities and their families to strengthen abilities and create opportunities for lifelong achievement in society."

Achievement Centers For Children programs can be broadly categorized as listed below. However the number and range of services offered here are far too numerous and broad in scope to allow for a comprehensive listing here.

Educational Programs

Preschool Classrooms - for children with and without disabilities
Technical Assistance Program - helps families find childcare for disabled children
Autism Programs - Pre-K up to grade 4 classrooms for children affected by autism.

Autism Programs

Includes preschool, kindergarten - 2nd Grade, consultative services, training & workshops

Family Support Services - Including but not limited to:

Intake and assessment to determine needs
Service coordination to identify and access resources
Advocacy
Support Groups
Transition planning
Evaluations for young children with social/emotional issues

Therapy Services

Evaluations, consultation and treatment, including equipment recommendations, environmental recommendations, social skills, daily activities, feeding, eating and alternative communication including computer aided devices, sign language, etc.

Recreation Programs

This program develops and implements outdoor experiences that help children develop independence and confidence. Children with and without disabilities are encouraged to participate. Weekend camps, day camps and riding programs are offered.
