Baptist Children’s Homes
Synopsis

Baptist Children's Homes, located in North Carolina, attempts to provide the highest quality care to the children and families served by the organization. They are one of the premier child care institutions in the state. The organization’s mission is one of  "helping hurting children... healing broken families."

A wide range of services are available to meet the needs of the individual child and/or family. These include, but are not necessarily limited to:

Residential Services
Emergency Care
Clarification/Value Change
Continuing Care
After Care
Level III Care
Teen Mother/Baby Parent Education Program
Wilderness Camping
Developmental Disabilities Ministry

Residential Services

Residential Services are provided at all four campuses of Baptist Children's Homes, in community-based group homes, and at a wilderness camp for boys. A variety of placement and prevention services are also available.

Emergency Care

During a family crisis, emergency care can be provided for children. The maximum length of stay is 60 days.

Clarification/Value Change

Clarification/Value Change are components of all primary residential care. Clarification service helps families to understand and define their relationships with one another. As an effect of clarifying these relationships, value change occurs as children and their families learn problem-solving skills

Continuing Care

Sometimes a child's needs are best met through long-term residential care. This service is offered on all four residential campuses.

After Care

The purpose of After Care is to help the family make the transition from residential care back to living together as a family.

Level III Care

This program provides a highly structured and supervised environment that is responsive to the need for active intervention. This requires a staff secure treatment setting.

Teen Mother/Baby Parent Education Program

This service is  provided for teenage mothers and their babies. The group home gives mothers the opportunity to learn parenting and living skills as well as completing their education.

Wilderness Camping

This program is provided for boys in a highly structured, outdoor environment. The program gives boys (and their families) an opportunity to work out problems through an alternative education program. Boys learn the importance of facing and solving problems.

Developmental Disabilities Ministry

This program provides developmentally disabled adults the opportunity to reach the highest possible level of independence. Residents achieve this level of independence in a group home setting.
