Lead Maverick IT Helping the Community

Our very own UI designer, Patrick Daly, has been asked to join a team competing in the WeAreMicrosoft.com Charity Challenge this weekend.

The event is a weekend long competition between different groups of developers who design, build, and present web applications requested by nonprofit organizations.  At the end of the event, a team will be selected as the winner, prizes will be awarded, bragging rights will be bestowed, but the real winners are the nonprofits who asked for IT help and are receiving some of the area’s top talent at no cost.

Patrick’s group will be working for the North Dallas Shared Ministries whose mission is…

“… to provide charitable assistance for persons in need, promote a sense of self-respect and responsibility and work with other organizations to respond to conditions of human need.

Less abstractly, its mission is to provide appropriate, effective emergency assistance to its clients and patients and to [access] these persons to employment opportunities as well as entitlement, health, and community programs designed to help them achieve stability for the [long-term].”

The project he will be working on is an intranet application that tracks medical records at the center.

The event was organized with the help of the South Central Developer Guidance Council (contact me if you want to more about them), Microsoft, and area companies who lent their talent (of which I’m proud to say Lead Maverick is one).

Great job Patrick!
