Lead Maverick Updates

Posted by Chris Thompson - CTO, Lead Maverick in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX on Jul 09, 2007

On Friday we pushed some updates to both directory.leadmaverick.com and application.leadmaverick.com.

Some of the newest features include:

  • A new content type called "Locations".  We help you add some geographical information to your content by giving you the ability to post maps to whatever you feel the need to post maps too.  If you have an event you need to let people know the location of, then add a new map in the application, submit it, and now you've got an interactive Microsoft Live Map to your event.  You could also post locations to your offices, stores, branches, etc.  Go map crazy!
  • Tagging.  Tags are currently very hot in the blogging world.  They are basically labels that are applied to content to help viewers find specific information.  Generally, in the blogging world, the blog author is left with the task of figuring out what tags, or labels, should be applied to their post.  But the goal of Lead Maverick is to promote your content to the top of search engines with as little "know how" on your part.  So let Lead Maverick worry about what tags should be associated to your content.  Each night all new content is reviewed and tags are then associated.
  • Pinging blog search engines.  A ping is a small "signal" sent to various spots on the Internet to either get information from a source, or to send information to that source.  It may help to think of sonar pings that ships use to figure out what is on the ocean floor.  Lead Maverick, with each submission of new content, sends a "ping" to various blog search engines to let them know that new information has been added to our site and that they should review us based on your new content.  Examples of blog search engines that we submit pings to are Technorati, My Yahoo, BlogLines, and FeedBurner.
Enjoy the new features and enjoy watching your content make it's way up the search engine ladder.
