Economy takes a Toll on Full Size Truck Sales

We are all aware of the trouble that the economy has been in lately in the United States. With all of this trouble, it really is no surprise to most of us that the economy would take a toll on the full size truck sales. However, the toll that it has taken on full size truck sales is kind of astonishing. According to J.D. Power and Associates’ in June of 2009, the sales of full size trucks has dropped a whopping thirty six percent since this same time last year which would be June of 2008.

With this kind of statistic, it kind of sets things in to proportion for you on how much the economy has affected the automotive industry, especially when it comes to trucks. The drop in automotive sales is affecting the entire automotive industry, but the full size pick up truck seems to be taking the largest drop of them all. A thirty six percent drop in just a time frame of one year is an extreme decrease in sales.

PIN is weighing in on the drop in full size truck sales as well, and according to them, light and heavy duty pick up trucks combined this year have only reached a sad five hundred thirteen thousand eighty eight trucks sold. That is light and heavy duty trucks combined. However, back in the year of 2008, light and heavy duty trucks sold eight hundred thousand nine hundred ninety nine trucks, just in the first half of the year. This is a major decrease in truck sales.

It is not just one particular truck manufacturer who is suffering from the decrease in truck sales. All of the truck manufacturers are feeling the sting of the teetering economy. This means that Ford, Dodge, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan among the rest of truck manufacturers have all felt the effects of the less than okay economy in the United States. The economy has taken a serious toll on truck sales. It has taken a toll on full size truck sales as well as light duty truck sales. The economy has also taken a toll on every truck manufacturer and there is no certain manufacturer who is feeling the sting any worse than the others.

Every automotive manufacturer who manufactures trucks is feeling the sting and they are feeling it just as much as every other automotive manufacturer who manufacturers trucks. With the huge decrease in truck sales both light and heavy duty, it has a lot of people wondering whether or not the automotive industry will be able to stay afloat. It also has a lot of people wondering when or if the economy will ever level back out. Is it too late for the automotive industry? This is a question that only time will be able to tell. Hopefully our economy will be able to get back up on its feet and regain the stamina that it once had. However, a lot of people are worried due to the recent bailout plans that have been developed in order to save our automotive industry.
