Wanna Get Caddy … Don’t Miss the Races at the 13th Hole!

Posted by Colonial Golf Girl in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX on Mar 05, 2008

Fans camping out on the 13th Hole are there for a reason.  The golf may be great but the fun to be had is watching and cheering for the unofficial caddy races.

Here’s the deal … as the caddy and their player walk off the tee box, fans are watching and picking which caddy they think will reach the 13th green first.

Now some caddies don’t participate.  Others play a sly game of nonchalantly walking down the fairway, ignoring fans who’re yelling at them to run for it.  About 100 yards away, the caddy may drop the bag, grab the putter and make a break for the green.

The races are Thursday through Sunday … and while it may not be exclusive to the Colonial, it’s certainly part of the tradition at this PGA Tour event.

If you’re headed to the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial for the first time, be sure and stop by the 13th hole and pick your favorite caddy.
