Old School is very Cool ... the Colonial Ranks in the Top 100

Golfweek Magazine released their Top 100 Classic Courses and Colonial Country Club ranked 53rd ... the highest rated among Texas courses built before 1960.

So what makes it so special?  The course is a par 70, but barely over 7,000 yards and includes just two par 5's.  Players have to work the ball to score and with the rough, a straight ball will get you into trouble.  The U.S. Open and PGA Championship are often played on par 70, great old courses barely over 7,000 yards, including Oakmont (ranked 6th) and Southern Hills (ranked 23rd).

I still haven't received my invitation to play the course, despite my toil and sweat over this blog, but everyone can get a glimpse of why it's so special during the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial over Memorial Day weekend.
