He's Not Scary At All ... An Interview with Boo Weekley

Posted by Colonial Golf Girl in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX on May 06, 2008

I'm speaking with Boo Weekley ... and thank you so much for taking the time to
answer a few questions ...

 1. Congratulations on your back-to-back wins at the Verizon Heritage ... it
looks like you pocketed a nice chunk of change.  Be honest, did you go home and
swim in champagne?

Boo:  Yeah, we're in the process of building a new house, so every dime helps. I
actually don't drink champagne. I just went and had a nice dinner with my Mama.
The next morning we got up and drove home. My phone was ringing so much that
day, I had to just turn it off.

 2. I've read that Ben Hogan is your hero ... can you tell me what you admired
about him?

Boo:  I just admire his work ethics. He worked very hard and I do too just so that I
can get where I'm trying to go.

 3.  I know you'll be playing in the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, so
what would it mean to win a tournament so closely tied to Mr. Hogan's legacy?

Boo:  It would be an honor to win there at Colonial. In fact, it's going to be quite
an honor just to walk the same ground he walked on. I'm really excited about
that and hope it brings me good vibes that week.

 4. When you’re at home kickin’ back, what do you like doing?

Boo:  I've always told people that when it's not golf, it's hunting and fishing. If
I didn't play golf professionally, I'd be hunting and fishing professionally. I
also really enjoy time with the family. My son's getting older now, so he and I
get to do a lot of things together now. But again, it all boils down to hunting
and fishing.

 5. it seems very clever to have the nickname "Boo."  Even if fans think you hit
a crummy shot, it still sounds like they're cheering for you!  Well done, Boo ...
and did you do this on purpose?

Boo:  You get used to it. It's fun to have a boo in you. Anytime you can get people
howlin' at you, it's a good thing.

Thank you so much for your time and best of luck Memorial Day weekend at the
Colonial
