Spoke to PGA Rules Official Mark Johnson who says he's "ecstatic" with the speed of play here. The short course allows players to move along ... they stay spread out ... and the players appreciate the fact that they can develop a rhythm.
Average first round is about 4 hours 15 minutes ... zoom, zoom, zoom
So playing time can't be to be blame for a poor score ... but the wind can. Wind gusts are so strong, some players are backing off a shot just to let the wind die down. One official guessed that today's gusts could cost a couple of strokes.
