Day 1: Art of Recovery

The biggest difference between how the Average Joe golfs on a Saturday afternoon and when a pro steps to the tee is the ability to save a drive that strays from the fairway.

Thursday's first round at the Colonial showed the saving prowess that professional golfers have. K.J. Choi may be 3 over after 16 holes, but he fought his way out of bunkers, roughs and tree-lined cart paths on many occasions.

Olin Browne is 2 over but he has managed to go from the tee box, to a tree limb, to the fairway within 15 yards of the pin.

The professionals preserve their game with solid saves. The weekend warriors stick to drops and mulligans.
