Day 2: Hot group leads to cool spot

Looking at the leaderboard this morning I decided to pick up watching one of the leaders on the day Matt Kuchar and his group of Tommy Armour III and John Mallinger and boy am I glad I did. I met up with the group as they were putting on 18 about to move on to the front 9.

Immediately I could tell which caddy was with whom even though the group was mixed together because each caddy looked like their counterpart pro. Mallinger and his caddy were the younger more athletic pair, Armour III and his caddy both had a graying poof of hair coming out the back of their hats and that similar swagger of the veteran, and Kuchar and his caddy had the look of the everyday guys.

The group led me to the hole 1 where at the end of the hole there was a huge grassy area with lots of shade. Now I'm the kind of guy who like to relax with a cold one under away from the massive crowds and just watch some good golf. So if that sounds like your thing park your folding chair at the end of hole 1.

Kuchar has moved up the leaderboard to a tie for 3rd shooting -5 through 14, one of the best on day 2 so far. I watched all three men birdie the hole from my cushy shade spot and decided to check out a tent that caught my eye on the way back.

More on that a bit later
