Day 2: Peek Performance Good for Golf

I can't seem to stop finding something fun to do at this PGA event. If I'm not watching the golfers or lounging in the Crown Plaza Lounge listening to Michael Irvin's radio show in person (yeah he was here, awesome), there always seems to be a random tent I can walk into that has something interesting to do. But there is one tent between holes 1 and 9 that has something special going on.

The Bridgestone Peek Performance Tent's long drive simulator has something special about it that sets it apart from the other 15 or so similar set ups around the course. Its a long drive competition for charity.

The charity is the First Tee of Akron Ohio charity which helps get kids into golf Steven an employee of Bridgestone running the tent told me. He said the reason it is the First Tee charity of Akron is that that is where Bridgestone hosts the Bridgestone Invitational.

I talked to a couple fans who tested their power at the long drive competition. Paul and Sean a father son team said they were happy to have fun for charity. Sean was impressed with the realism of the machine. "I think its cool because it picked up my slice", Sean said.

There was also a 4 hole round of put put set up around the tent with each hole relating to a different tire. And something even I couldn't pass up was the opportunity to win a free set of tires. Bridgestone will hold a drawing and give away a free set of tires at the end of the tourney.

Man this just keeps getting better and better. I'm off to practice my putting game.
