My Oh My, How Times Have Changed ... It's the Golden A** Award for Men

I was talking to longtime, award-winning journalist Mike Cochran, who's been around the Colonial since 1961.  He remembered in the 60's, a group of guys would sit atop the grandstand at 18 ... as the ladies walked by ... they'd hold up a number between 1-and-10.

Eventually, the Colonial banned the activity.

Today, I met up with a group of lovely ladies from Morgan Keegan.  Rhonda Thornhill, Pam Simms and Deborah Drum all hang out in the MK area which is poolside, just above the practice green and the 1st tee box.

Their perch allows terrific views of golfers and their caddies ... and they're taking full advantage by selecting finalists for the Golden A** Award.

Both golfers and caddies are eligible and while many are considered silver and bronze medalists, only two have been labeled GA'ers.  Phil Mickelson and Alex Cejka both have "GA" beside their names on their pairings guide.

So how does a backside qualify?  Getting technical may get me into trouble ... so I'll offer a visual.  Rhonda, Pam and Deborah say, think of a cowboy who can fill out a tight pair of Wranglers.

No caddies were mentioned ... the ladies lament the fact that their bibs cover their bee-hinds ... but they've promised to make a concerted effort to check out the guys who do the heavy lifting.

I'll announce the winners when they let me know ... I can't promise pictures, but I'll try ...
