Day 4: Close Yet Far

Tim Clark was within 10 feet of either winning or at least sending the Crowne Plaza Invitational  at Colonial to a playoff with Phil Mickelson.

His birdie attempt on the 18th green fell short of the pin, causing him to tap in for par and wait to see the outcome of the last remaining pair of Phil Mickelson and Rod Pampling.

Phil Mickelson's miraculous gap wedge shot from the trees well left of the 18th fairway changed the outcome of 18. Instead Mickelson being well away from the whole and two putting, he was within eight feet of the pin leaving an unlucky break for the underdog of Sunday afternoon.

However, keeping optimism about the tournament, Clark said he was satisfied with his -4 for the final round which left him 13 under by the end.

"It's always better to play well and finish second than been like you've thrown the tournament away," he said after making a valiant charge at the leaders during the back nine.
