Privately owned holding company headquartered near Waco, Texas. Since
its inception in 1977, the company has acquired and built companies in
such diverse industries as cable television, general contracting, real
estate development, livestock, banking and financial services, with
continued plans for future expansion. The accounting & finance
department will continue to grow to match company growth.
POSITION: Controller / Vice President
REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
Responsibilities of Controller / Vice President:
The
Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining systems and
procedures to improve quality and efficiency related to accounting
management, financial management, accounting and benefit operations and
special projects as requested.
Duties of Controller / Vice President:
- Direct the monthly closing process
- Monitor balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Prepare internal and external financial reports
- Maintain adequate internal controls
- Coordinate annual audit
Prerequisites to be considered for this executive job opening:
- Accounting Degree
- CPA License
- 2-4 years experience in Big 4 accounting firm with an additional 2-3 years in industry is preferred.
- This is a “hands on” day to day position and requires:
- An
active role in the accounting functions of the Company and its
subsidiaries in addition to the direct and development supervision and
development of professional and clerical staff of seven.
- An ability to recognize and improve inefficiencies in accounting and operating procedures as well as improve internal control.
- Experience in financial reporting, financial analysis and monitoring of budget is preferred.
- “Texas
ties” is a must for this executive job opening and preferable grad of
Texas A&M or Baylor. The position of Controller / Vice President
has significant room for professional growth within the company both
presently and in the future, dependent upon the individual’s abilities
and aspirations.
- The position will directly interact with company management and is a key management position.
Relocation: Relocation provided.
Compensation: Base of $120,000 to $170,000 plus $40,000 target bonus.
