Starting a small business requires a good idea, proper funding, and a whole lot of know-how. With the ever-changing climate in small business lending, you may feel that you’re in way over your head when it comes to the inner workings of the business world. Let the experts at DRDA/CPAs in Houston guide you through all the confusing processes and policies synonymous with small business financing. The team of leaders at DRDA regularly attend seminars and conferences in order to keep abreast of the latest options for funding your small business. Plans this Fall 2008 include:

September 2-5: Association of Small Business Development Companies

The ASBDC is one of the most far-reaching small business support networks in the United States. Their goal is to assist new entrepreneurs in achieving successful business ownership by remaining aware of the latest economic trends and marketplace complexities. The conference was held in Chicago and covered topics such as the latest in communication technology, productivity skills, and entrepreneur-development programs. The DRDA/CPAs were in attendance soaking up the knowledge in order to better assist you in starting a small business or opening a franchise.

September 4-7: Sunbelt Annual Meeting

The Sunbelt business broker franchise meeting in Cleveland included educational opportunities to expand upon current industry knowledge and improve everyday business skills. Included was a presentation by Sam Tyler, the award-winning producer of the PBS documentary “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”.

September 11th: FPA (Financial Planners Association)

The FPA symposium in Houston is the premier event highlighting the intricacies of financial planning. Planners and advisors such as the DRDA CPAs will brush up on the most efficient planning tactics for clients and explore the best ways to achieve particular fiscal objectives in order to expertly assist you in all your small business start-up needs.

One option that the DRDA CPAs specialize in is the BORSA (Business Owners Retirement Savings Account) plan. The BORSA plan is unique in that you can use the money saved in your 401(k) to fund the purchase of a franchise or as start-up capital for a new business without incurring penalties such as early withdrawal taxation. The BORSA plan also allows you to use an SBA loan to back your new small business or expand upon your current business.

The specialists at DRDA CPAs not only attend events to amplify their skills, but are also sponsoring two charity golf tournaments on September 24th. The Texas Center for the Missing, which is dedicated to providing help for the families of missing children, is holding a tournament in Houston. That same day in Dallas, the North Texas Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders is hosting the first annual Ken Byrd Cancer Survivors Charity Golf Tournament.
