Fraxel Anti-Aging Laser Treatment Now Available at Daireds

The Med Spa at Daireds has acquired one of the most talked about new anti-aging treatments on the market today. Featured in numerous national magazines and broadcast news segments, the Fraxel re:pair laser treatment has been touted as the most revolutionary new way to correct aged and damaged skin, without having surgery.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that this is indeed the biggest breakthrough in wrinkle removal in the last five to ten years,” said Dr. Christopher Zachary of the University of California at Irvine, in an interview for NBC’s Today Show in February.

Developed by Reliant Technologies in Mountain View, California, Fraxel was approved by the FDA in the fall of 2007 to treat wrinkles, irregular skin texture, sun spots, age spots, and sun-induced redness.  Not intended to replace the facelift, the developers of Fraxel designed the system to treat individuals before they would ever need one.

“If you attack wrinkles and furrows with the Reliant repair device when patients are 40 or 50, patients are never going to get the sagging skin that they used to get when they were 50 or 60,” Zachary said.

Fraxel is described as restoring tiny areas of the face at a fraction of skin at a time, hence its name, just as a damaged painting is delicately repaired one small area at a time. The treatment produces thousands of tiny, deep column penetrations then uses the body’s natural healing process to create new, healthy, tighter tissue to replace skin imperfections and eliminate old epidermal pigmented cells. Because the Fraxel treatment targets areas well below the skin’s outmost layer, downtime is minimal.

There are currently three different Fraxel laser treatments on the market, including Fraxel re:store, Fraxel re:fine, and the newest, most advanced version, Fraxel re:pair, which was just launched in the first quarter of 2008. The Med Spa at Daireds has specifically acquired the Fraxel re:pair laser treatment, which delivers “Fractional Deep Dermal Ablation,” or FDDA, the most advanced technology in ablative treatments. It is this technology that allows for the tissue surrounding the treated zones to remain undamaged, rather the general ablation of entire surfaces that is seen from use of traditional lasers.

“This is a pre-emptive strike. It’s taking care of your skin, and you can avoid a real operation. There will a lot of people, men and women, who will be interested,” said Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC news chief medical editor, in an interview.

Immediately following a Fraxel re:pair laser treatment, patients will experience some degree of redness and swelling, which will subside within one to two days. Other temporary side effects include flaking, minor itching and a bronzed skin appearance.

The Fraxel laser treatment has created quite a buzz in the media, having been featured on Fox News, The Today Show, VH1, The Montel Williams Show, Allure, Prevention, O, The Oprah Magazine and more. The Fraxel re:pair laser is so new, The Med Spa at Daireds is the only med spa in the Metroplex to currently offer the treatment.

“We want to be a full-service resource that our guests can trust for results-oriented solutions,” said Daired Ogle, owner. “We’re actively reviewing every new product and treatment announced to select only the ones that ensure our guests receive the results anticipated.”

Daireds Salon & Spa Pangea recently expanded the Med Spa facilities to incorporate over 3,000 additional square feet. Ogle said the expansion will allow Daireds to serve more guests with a wider range of anti-aging and cosmetic treatments in a unique and relaxing spa environment.

In October of last year, Walter Waechter, M.D., who has over 27 years of experience in Arlington, TX, joined the Med Spa at Daireds to administer treatments such Botox, Restylane, laser skin rejuvenation, Daireds Acne Clear treatment, and now Fraxel treatments. The Med Spa also recently welcomed nurse practitioner, Lynda Valdez, who has been a registered nurse since 1973, and has practiced family medicine and neurosurgery.

The Med Spa staff at Daireds is excited about the newly acquired Fraxel re:pair treatment, and looks forward to providing this revolutionary service to guests who are looking for a safe and non-invasive way to re-discover renewed, healthy skin.
