Lead your own field trip exploration of Dallas' most beautiful classroom on the shores of White Rock Lake.The Dallas Arboretum's guided tours, self guided class trips, Dallas field trips and educational programs provide hands-on experiences that make learning fun and meet the requirements of the TEKS for science education. In addition, these programs incorporate language arts, math, social studies and fine art components.Because the Crow Pavilion's new classrooms allow the addition of deeper levels of science education to existing field trips, the Dallas Arboretum added two new teachers to its staff to research, write curricula for new field trips and teach new classes. The new programs will incorporate technology and help students investigate and understand more complex natural science concepts.Towering trees, colorful gardens and lush lawns on the shores of White Rock Lake make the perfect setting for an educational adventure. Request a garden hunt for your field trip class when you make your reservation. It will "wake up" your students' senses as they explore the great out-of-doors. Be sure to bring your lunches and stay for a picnic at the Dallas Arboretum.Children's Education Registration You may register for any children's education classes by calling 214-515-6540 or click for a printable registration form.Mondays - Fridays; Pre-K - 12th Grades; $3.50 per child, $4.50 per adult. Rent a backpack for your field trip class that is full of materials and supplies for 30 students and lead your own fun, interactive and educational visit. These backpack provide hands-on opportunities for your students to learn more about plants, nature and the environment and are based on the science TEKS for each grade. Materials in some of the backpacks include: books, hand lenses, color paddles, prisms and UV detecting bracelets. A teacher guide will be sent in advance so you will be prepared! General Visitor information for The Dallas ArboretumHours: The family friendly Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is open to the public year-round 9am to 5pm except for Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Year's Day.General Admission: Adults, $9.50. Seniors 65 and over, $8. Children ages 3-12, $6. Children 2 and under, free. On-site parking, $5.Rental: Both the DeGolyer Home, the Camp House and Rosine Hall are available for events and rental.
