The AIGA- A design organization- is the premier location for appreciating, understanding, discussing, and discovering designs and fellow designers. Design artists turn to the AIGA to exchange information and idea, advance and research ethical and educational practices in design, and participate in design analysis. The AIGA sets the United States agenda for how design initiatives will apply in creative, political, social, and economic contexts.


The AIGA, which was founded in 1914, is one of the largest and oldest professional membership organizations in design. The organization represents over 22,000 professional designers, design students, and educators through national and international activities. The 62 local chapters and 240 student groups of the AIGA across the nation develop numerous educational, informational, and entertaining programs.

The AIGA strives to serve its members and communities through five critical functions: representation, validation, inspiration, communication, and information. The AIGA is the premier authority for communicating and promoting standards for the professional expertise and ethical conduct of design professionals. In addition, AIGA members and governing officials collect and analyze information about the design profession. The organization provides stimulating, provocative programming covering critical issues of the design industry, as well as celebrations of both innovative and effective design which serves as a source of inspiration for members and non-members. Finally, the AIGA looks forward to finding new professional disciplines, applying the ever-changing nature of design to practical methods, and discovering new ideas.

The AIGA- a design organization- supports the interests of students, educators, individuals, and professionals in the design technologies field. Individuals who are actively engaged in any aspect of the designing process can find inspiration, advice, support, and at times, financial backing. The vast array of disciplines which are represented in the design profession can include type and book design, traditional communication design, interaction design, motion graphics, and experience design. In addition, the AIGA actively supports the interests and needs of other individuals who are involved with designing task from other disciplines. Any business or profession which shares the common values of commitment to the advancement and understanding of the intrinsic value of design may join the AIGA or participate in activities.

Through the relationships formed in the AIGA and related activities, members and non-members come together in the community to exchange ideas and benefit from the wisdom of others.

The Dallas/ Fort Worth chapter of the AIGA focuses on professional development, advocacy, education, leadership, communication, and supporting the design community. It seeks to set a high standard for design leadership through work, action, and thought. Through these initiatives, a desire to give back to others and the community has blossomed. Local task forces, professional development programs, and design advocacy groups have helped numerous designers to launch small businesses, provided insight and inspiration to design artists, and fostered a sense of belonging and togetherness.

The Florida chapters of the AIGA- a design organization- host numerous design-related activities and events annually. Design artists find the AIGA as a source for design-related jobs in and around Florida, both with the organization, with AIGA member businesses, and associate enterprises. Through the education and skills obtained in the organization, design professionals can further their careers in numerous ways.
