The 2003 annual report was an opportunity to continue reinforcing the branding strategy implemented in 2002 and illustrate the value Perot Systems places on cultivating healthy customer relationships as a springboard to helping customers achieve superior business results. The report was also an opportunity to emphasize the values upon which the company was founded. Finally, it was an opportunity to communicate the company’s financial results for its most recently completed fiscal year to shareholders, industry influencers, analysts and other in the financial community. This annual report also set out to create a repository of Perot Systems information that can be leverages for internal and external communications, including speeches, news releases, the corporate Web site, associate communications and success stories.

We support the message with strong customer success stories that clearly and creatively illustrate the relationships-and-results connection, while providing a clear, brief overview of the complex types of business Perot Systems conducts in terms the average reader can understand. As a team, we produced an on-target creative communications vehicle for Perot Systems Corp.
Results
The 2003 Perot Systems annual report design met or exceeded all of its goals. Two customers approached the company about being featured in success stories in the following year’s (2004) annual report, citing the quality of the presentation in the 2003 (and 2002) reports. There were many internal requests to reprint or re-purpose content, including using portions of the annual report for individual success stories, external Web site content, intranet site stories, and PowerPoint presentations for current and potential customers. In 2003, Verizon’s http://www.verizon.com/ printed annual report’s theme was “delivering the new world of communications.” Verizon’s challenge to Eisenberg And Associates: Deliver an online, creative interactive annual report design http://http//www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=annual+report+design that stylistically matches the printed version, but also offers content not available/possible in printed form. With a shareholder base of over 1 million, and as a technology-driven communications company, offering its shareholders online services is critical.
Solution
Eisenberg And Associates responded by delivering on the promise of the Verizon theme. E&A redesigned and programmed its printed documents into an enhanced interactive annual report that included an animated site gateway; HTML graphs and charts for the visually impaired; animated Flash graphics to explain complex charts and diagrams; an extensive “Financial Guide” that explained its annual report terminology and their corporate philosophy; an extensive narrative section offering cross-linked content, supporting electronic information with televised speeches and downloadable documents; and a full online HTML version of their 2003 Proxy Statement. Additional content included a site search, help section, user feedback forms, and multiple downloadable PDFs.
Results
Verizon received favorable feedback on its interactive annual report. The navigation was user-friendly and there were multiple ways that users could find the information that they needed, downloads were available on every page, and there were many animated charts and graphics to provide a rich, interactive experience.
