For years people have been on a quest to find the Holy Grail for Weight-loss. What is the secret to losing that stubborn fat around our waist or on our hips? Seekers for this information have tried many things from silly diets and disgusting shakes, to magical weight-loss pills.
Thankfully, medical researchers have found that secret. It’s the one organ in our body that has a vital role in metabolism, the way we burn fat and nearly 400 different jobs. The liver is a versatile organ and the key to a healthy trim figure. Most people assume the liver is used only for detoxifying our body, but it also plays a major role in metabolism, and is a fat burning machine. Each day your liver produces a yellowish green liquid called bile, which emulsifies and absorbs fats in the small intestine. If there is not enough bile produced, fat cannot be emulsified and absorbed correctly. When the liver is unable to remove these small fat globules, it will cause excessive fat to build up in the blood vessel walls. This fat may then gradually build up in many other parts of the body, including other organs and in fatty deposits under your skin. Then you may develop cellulite in the buttocks, thighs, and abdominal wall. It can be almost impossible to lose this fat, unless the liver function is improved.
In her book, The Fat Flush Plan, author Ann Louise Gittleman tells of several ways on improving your liver functions. Eating two lecithin-rich eggs, taking omega-3 flax-seed oil, and drinking fresh lemon juice in water daily will greatly improve your liver. She also suggests that we should avoid caffeine and some medications because they are especially toxic to the liver.
In addition to this helpful information, comes a new study by researchers from London’s Imperial College and the Nestlé Research Center of Switzerland. This study found that probiotics can change the effectiveness of the emulsification process in the liver. Probiotics are rapidly becoming very popular products in the natural health realm. A probiotic is a substance that contains microorganisms or bacteria that are beneficial to the host organism. Most probiotics can be found in fermented milk products like yogurt. Researchers in this study showed how probiotics positively aided bile acids in the emulsification and absorption of fats.
In conclusion, it is not necessary to make yourself miserable by following every crazy diet that comes out or taking so-called magical weight-loss pills. What is effective for fat burning is to eat foods that improve the liver’s fat burning functions.
