Benny Black Launches Platinum Motorcars, an Exotic Car Rental Dealership in Dallas

exotic car rentals 10 years ago, Benny Black turned to his wife and said, “I want to drive really nice cars all the time and not have to pay for them.”  Hence, Platinum Motorcars, an online luxury car rental service, was born.  Next month, Platinum Motorcars, now with a fleet of 15 vehicles including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Mercedes, Escalades, and more, will celebrate the grand opening of its first exotic car rental dealership.  The 7,200-sq. foot space is located at 11430 N. Central Expressway (at Royal). 

“We want to build our brand image as a place where clients can expect a warm welcome, a trusting relationship and consistent superior service that exceeds their expectations,” says Black.  “We also want to enhance community awareness by hosting events and sharing our luxuries and dreams with others.”  Platinum Motorcars already participates in approximately 10 charity events each year. 

Pricing varies by vehicle.  A Porsche 996 Carrera is $525 per day; Ferrari 360 Spider is $1,450 per day; and a Rolls-Royce Phantom, most popular for weddings, is $2,250 per day.  Sedans and SUVs are available for around $450 - $550 per day.  Platinum Motorcars also offers chauffer services and sales for hard-to-find vehicles.   

Business has been good despite the economic downtown.  In addition to Dallas, Black has loyal clients in several oil cities like Houston and Midland where cars are leased for several days to several weeks.  Black has also noticed a trend to lease exotic sports cars before actually purchasing them.  Says Black, “There is not a better time to drive a $250,000 car for just a fraction of the price.”   

Many of his clients are referred from luxury hotels like Hotel ZaZa and The Mansion on Turtle Creek, where hotel and car packages are available with additional luxury amenities like fine dining, spa treatments and Sprinkles cupcake desserts.   He has repeat clientele with numerous sports players like Oakland Raiders Michael Huff, New York Giants Chris Canty and Dallas Cowboys DeMarcus Ware, as well as celebrities such as Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Elizabeth Hurley and Matthew Perry.  

Always dressed to the nines in a suit and pocket square and carrying two cell phones, Black understands the requirements to meet his clients’ expectations.  He has driven one of his cars all the way to Chicago last minute.  Vehicles are often wrapped in bows sitting in the client’s driveway for special occasions.  Author and Barneys New York Creative Director Simon Doonan once told Black, “The back of your Mercedes is so clean that I can eat from it!”  

Born in Lubbock, Texas, Black is the oldest of five children and attended Texas Tech University on a track scholarship.  After college, he got his first dose of the service industry bartending in the West End in Dallas, but his dream of driving luxury cars had already taken root.  In his 30’s, Black started a luxury limousine service, at which time he realized the unfulfilled niche for high-end rental cars that cater to a luxury market that exudes class and status.  Black has been married to wife Jennifer for 10 years and has three children and two designer Chiweenie dogs, Hercules and Lola.   

Next month, Black will host a grand opening party to celebrate the next level of driving fast cars, his first luxury car rental dealership.  Within the next three years, Black plans to expand his fleet and open locations in Houston, Atlanta, Denver and Scottsdale.
