Whether you need to add a little light-hearted romance to rekindle your flame or just want to cruise the audience for Mr. Right Now, the perfect show is waiting. Oh yeah, and for those of you who count down the days until this lovey-dovey crap is over, there’s the harshness of Slaughterhouse 5 or the downward spiral of Love, Janis to take in. See, everybody wins. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change Through Sunday, February 17 New York had Cats; Dallas has this show that has been running off and on since 2000. The good news is that this romantic musical comedy about the idiosyncrasies of relationships is still relevant today. Although, you may be more familiar with the gay version: I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Take Your Clothes Off. Kurt Vonnegut’s classic novel about a man “unstuck in time” who experiences his life in a seemingly random order comes to the stage in this adaptation by Academy Award winner Eric Simonson. Tickets: $20 Risk Theater Initiative 3605 Ross Avenue, Dallas www.risktheinitiative.com La Cage Aux Folles February 8 - 23 Remember those episodes of Maury where you had to guess who was the real girl and who was the drag queen? This is just like that, except with more marabou, bugle beads and musical numbers. Hint: if there’s a pronounced Adam’s Apple swinging about during the tap number (or anything else swinging for that matter), it’s probably a guy. Tickets $12 to $15 ONSTAGE in Bedford 2819 Forest Ridge Drive, Bedford www.onstageinbedford.org Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding February 8 - March 9 Calling all Drama Queens, this show is for you as audience members get to play actual roles in the wedding. That’s right, that stage light you’re always trying to steal may find you after all. We just have two words of advice: under-eye concealer. The show includes champagne toast, wedding cake and pasta dinner, too. Tickets: $65 to $85 Dallas Summer Musicals The Weisfeld Center 1508 Cadiz Street, Dallas www.dallassummermusicals.org Love, Janis February 19 - 24 Southern comfort straight from the bottle, a loud gravely voice and incessant ramblings about Bobby McGee; sounds like us stumbling out of JR’s at last call but it’s really a tribute to rowdy rocker icon Janis Joplin.
