A native of Los Angeles, C.L. Talmadge moved to England at age 14, where she spent her high school years in an all-girls grammar school. She learned Shakespeare and other English literature from those who know it best. She also twice cruised the Mediterranean, visiting ancient historic sites in Algeria, Greece, Italy, Libya, Portugal, Spain, and Tunisia.

C.L. returned to the U.S. to attend Bryn Mawr College, graduating in three years with an honors bachelor's degree in history. She became a professional writer in 1976, joining The Suffolk County News as associate editor. Under the byline Candace Talmadge, she was a staff or freelance writer for numerous media that included The New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, Forbes, Reuters America, Business Week, the Dallas Times Herald, and Adweek. She has written thousands of business news articles, county government stories, and features. Now she writes political columns syndicated by North Star Writers Group.

More than two decades ago, C.L. encountered an alternative healing method called Sunan therapy that enabled her to resolve many of her emotional and spiritual wounds. This therapy also helped her become familiar with the intimate link between spirituality, energy, and healing. It introduced her to some of her past lives and those of family and friends.

In 1999, Candace co-authored Hope is in the Garden--Healing Resolution Through Unconditional Love, nonfiction about emotional and spiritual healing based on the Sunan method of working in the energy of human consciousness. C.L. provides an expanded definition of energy that demonstrates the connection between matter, spirit, heart, and mind. She also argues that healing the individual and healing the world are interrelated in ways that perhaps many people don't perceive or expect.

The link between individual/personal and collective/global healing is one of the themes underlying the author's speculative fiction, Green Stone of Healing® series. The multigenerational novels are based on two of C.L.'s past lives and the past lives of loved ones and acquaintances.

In 2005, C.L. initially published the first editions (hardback and paperback) of the series' first book,The Vision, through a now defunct small press. A new edition of The Vision, plus Fallout, the second book, and The Scorpions Strike, the third book, are now available in paperback and as ebooks though HealingStone Books.

"The Scorpions Strike is face-paced, action-packed and full of surprises. Just when you think you have figured out where these events might be heading, everything you imagined is thrown out the window," writes Anne Garber, managing director of evalu8.org, giving the latest book in the series five stars.

The multi-generational series explores what happens when politics and piety collide--how theocrats, aiming for total control of an island nation called Azgard, instead end up destroying their country and much of the rest of the world in a near extinction-level event.

Throughout the tale, the outspoken heroines and their mysterious green gem offer a healing, inclusive alternative to those in power who discriminate against anyone who does not look like or believe as they do.

More about C.L.'s unique genre fiction is available at the Green Stone of Healing® series website. Readers are wlecome to browse through the entire first three books in the series at the author's online bookshelf
