GroupOne Services provides Federal Compliance Checks
Thanks to GroupOne Services, Inc., hospitals can avoid costly financial penalties. With hospitals prohibited from hiring employees excluded by the government, GroupOne has created a useful and economical Federal Compliance Check package that screens employees against government sanction lists.
For reasons of misconduct, the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and General Services Administration (GSA) can exclude individuals from federal healthcare programs such as Medicare or Medicaid. The OIG and GSA also have the authority to assess financial penalties against hospitals contracting or employing the excluded parties. To be in compliance, hospitals must check their employees against government sanction lists.
“We can check GSA, OIG, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control lists,” said Eric Scott, vice president of GroupOne. “We can also check more than 100 federal agencies. This package assists hospitals in combating abuse and fraud while supporting dependable and safe staffs.”
The Federal Compliance Check package has a three-pronged attack starting with the GSA Excluded Parties List System search, covering over 100 agencies responsible for compiling lists of parties excluded by the U.S. from receiving federal contracts and financial assistance. The OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities database, providing information to healthcare about those excluded from participation in Medicare and Medicaid, will also be checked. The package concludes with a check of the Office of Foreign Assets Control List, which screens applicants against the government "Terrorist List."
“This package is an opportunity to mitigate risk,” said Steve Love, president of GroupOne. “It’s useful for hospitals when protecting their assets and provides good overall company governance. Hospitals can purchase this service for current employees and contractors even though the facility may not use GroupOne for background screening.”
