Mr. James Dondero is a Founder and President of Highland Capital Management, L.P. in addition to holding the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors
of Highland Capital Financial Partners.
Previous to his current position at Highland Capital Management (HCMLP), Mr. James Dondero functioned as the Chief Investment Officer of Protective Life’s GIC subsidiary,
and greatly assisted the business growth concept to over $2 billion from 1989
to 1993.
Mr. Dondero's portfolio of management experience includes high yield bonds, mortgage-backed securities, leveraged bank loans, emerging markets and derivatives, as well as stocks, both preferred and common, and investment grade corporates.
From 1985 to 1989, James Dondero successfully managed approximately $1 billion in fixed
income funds for American Express. Before his experiences with American Express, Mr. James
Dondero finished the Morgan Guarantee
Trust Company financial training program.
A Beta Gamma Sigma graduate of the University of Virginia, James Dondero earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce concentrating in
Accounting and Finance.
Mr. James Dondero is a Certified Public Account
and a Certified Management Accountant Mr. Dondero may use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
