Mr. John Honis functions as the Head of Private Equity and Portfolio Company at Highland Capital Management, L.P. Mr. Honis stems his knowledge from more than 25 years of experience in positions as CEO, CRO and board-level advisor. These roles were focused on high-growth and distressed companies in a wide range of industries for manufacturing and services.
Before leading the Highland Capital private equity efforts, Mr. John Honis founded Barrier Advisors. Barrier Advisors is among the leading providers for strategic, operational and financial advice to venture capital, and private equity and money management businesses. A few of Barrier’s clients have been CS First Boston, Goldman Sachs, GE Capital, TA Associates and Highland Capital Management, L.P.
Mr. John Honis has led numerous strategic growth plans, and has lured in many of the nation’s top strategic practitioners to the Barrier team.
Mr. John Honis was an accomplished high-tech executive, serving as President, CEO or Chief Restructuring Officer of five telecommunications firms.
Mr. Honis’ experience encompasses all areas of growth management, strategic turnarounds and operational turnarounds, restructuring financials, acquisitions /mergers and capital markets. These functioned as the foundational elements of Barrier Advisors’ charter.
Mr. Honis’ early career began at J.P. Morgan in New York. At J.P. Morgan, he was among the leaders in global consulting. At J.P. Morgan, he specialized in the design and implementing of worldwide corporate financial systems and processes.
Mr. John Honis graduated from Syracuse University. It was at Syracuse that Mr. Honis earned degrees in both Business Administration and Marketing, as well as Economics.
