Mr. Michael Colvin serves as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for
Highland Capital Management, L. P.
Before joining the Highland Capital team in June
2007, Mr. Michael Colvin worked as a Shareholder in the Corporate and Securities
Group at Greenberg Traurig, LLP. This group is the eighth largest law firm in the
U.S. (according to the National Law Journal).
During Mr. Colvin's employment with Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Michael held responsibility for corporate practices, particularly emphasizing mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments,
financing / restructure, and counseling on a corporate level.
Previous to his role with Greenberg Traurig, LLP, Mr. Colvin was a Partner in the
Private Equity Practice Group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP. Mr. Colvin began his work there in 1995.
Mr. Michael Colvin earned the Bachelor of Science degree in
Finance, having graduated summa cum laude from Western Kentucky University. Mr. Colvin also
earned his Juris Doctor degree (with high distinction) from the
University of Kentucky College of Law.
Mr. Michael Colvin has extensive professional
certifications, including memberships with the New York State Bar Association and Texas Bar Association
