Marketing for targeted traffic requires great content, a call to action, and customer friendly interaction. Dominate with a web presence using these techniques.
Chances are you've probably seen a lot of websites that have the characteristics of the practice dummy they use at the local Red Cross for their CPR classes. Why are so many websites impersonal, dull, listless, and generally in critical need of a major makeover?
The reason is simple. The people designing these sites forgot that the primary focus should be on the customer, and not the owners of the websites! Now there are many reasons why this could have happened, but regardless of fault, it still happened, but fortunately any website can be saved.
To dominate Google's first page, you need to have a "Web Presence" not just a run of the mill website. If you go to www.wikipedia.com and look up the term "web presence" you will find a definition I'm sure you probably hadn't thought of. How would you feel if you could take out a magic eraser and scratch off all of your competition from the first page of Google? Well you can, but you need to start with these simple techniques. One of the first modifications every website owner should consider is their "Call to Action". Why do so many websites have such a wimpy "Call To Action" or no call at all? A proper "Call to Action" should elicit a response from the customer that makes them react to an offer you've strategically placed on your opening page. Along with getting a response, another great use of the "CTA" offer is to capture the customer's name, email, address, and phone number because as we all know, List Building is the key to building clientele.
When you look at any website, how credible is the content? When reviewing any website a key to making the website extremely powerful is that you must look at the content provided and make sure that there is credible information. Every website needs information that provides great content, keeping current customers and prospective customers coming back while creating credibility in place of face-to-face interaction. Keep the content relevant and current, and make sure it is FREE. Content can be many things including newsletters, white papers, articles that have been written, testimonials, audio and even video. A good website can never have too much content, just make sure it's user friendly. This brings us to the last tip on website effectiveness. If the website looks good, and is drawing traffic you want to make sure that the site is "User Friendly".
When you think of "User Friendly" a major point should be made about where the phone number is displayed. It should be at the top right corner of each page. Too many times companies will have a "contact us" button, and when opened, you find the address, phone number, fax number, and occasionally an email address. The phone number needs to be displayed on each page if possible, and if not, on the opening page so that everyone sees it. When you think of the term "User Friendly" you should also think about how easily potential prospects can find what their looking for on the site. When a site is designed, SEO and access of good content should go hand in hand. People need to find the site, and not have to hunt through several pages just to get answers that should be readily available. If they have to spend more than 30 seconds trying to locate information to answer their question or solve their problem, they'll probably move on to another site. Did you know that the first 3 businesses listed on the first page of Google get more than 68% of all business? Even more surprising is that in most cases, it doen't take much to displace them from the top spots. No it won't happen overnight but usually can be accomplished in 90-120 days if you hire a web/SEO consulting firm that has the experience. Just remember, once you get there, you have to maintain the marketing of your business to keep the top spots.
