With names like, "Electronics Behaving Badly," "Appliances with Attitude" and "Space: The Final Frontier... or Last Straw?" Plano, Texas, February 12, 2006 - With names like, "Electronics Behaving Badly," "Appliances with Attitude" and "Space: The Final Frontier... or Last Straw?" Plano, Texas-based Rent-A-Center's new TV and radio spots remind consumers that no one should have to settle for second best when it comes to home merchandise.

"Research told us that many consumers live with things that don't work right, or don't fit them anymore, because they don't think they can afford to upgrade or replace them. We want them to know Rent-A-Center is here to help," said RAC VP of Marketing, Ann Davids.

Introducing the theme line, "We Make It Easy To Make It Your Own," the spots depict everyday situations with light humor; life's little aggravations brought about by ordinary household items that have outlived their usefulness. In one spot, a man attempts to use the icemaker on the door of his old fridge. Instead of getting a glassful, he's met with an avalanche of cubes. The voiceover observes, "Everyday, hardworking Americans are making do...with appliances that don't." The promise of "easy" is delivered via Rent-A-Center trucks, carrying messages such as, payment options that include "Weekly, Monthly and More," "No Credit Needed," and "Same Day Delivery," among other of the industry leader's benefits.

"After 32 years, RAC enjoys very high brand recognition," added Davids. "It was the next level of communication - educating customers about our line-up of new, top-brand name merchandise, and the many services we include in the transaction - that was needed. Many people don't realize, for example, that we're a great alternative to long-term, costly credit card debt." The integrated campaign, created by RAC Marketing Alliance partners Launch Agency (www.launchagency.com) and Razor Competitive Edge (www.razorcompetitive.com), includes radio, print, web and in-store marketing. Carat USA planned and placed media. Headquartered in Plano, Texas, Rent-A-Center, Inc. (NASDAQ: RCII) currently operates more than 2,700 company-owned rent-to-own stores in 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Canada. The stores offer high-quality, durable home furnishings consumers under flexible rental-purchase agreements that allow customers to own the merchandise at the conclusion of an agreed-upon rental period.
