LOOMIS 2011: That’s a Wrap!

Posted by LOOMIS Agency in Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX on Dec 12, 2011

Gratitude never goes out of style, but reflection and appreciation seem to flow more spontaneously as the calendar flips each winter. I’m feeling especially fortunate, and I have some good stuff to share from LOOMIS.

2011 has been an unqualified success for all of our clients, and I’m extraordinarily thankful for that.  Some successes have been positively eye-popping, while others have been more modest.  But, on balance it feels pretty darned good.  Here are just a handful of the agency highlights from the year.

Nearly a decade into a client relationship filled with friendships and fond memories, Texas Dairy Queen’s performance is still tracking well ahead of the QSR segment. This year, we added a twist to an iconic TV campaign with several new original music compositions to support specific promotions.  The quality of the tracks is amplified by performances from world-class musicians like Andy Timmons, Milo Deering, and longtime voice of Texas DQ, Sean Mitchell.  What a privilege it is to work with that kind of talent.

Our friends at Sleep Experts have sustained an incredible record-setting sales pace established in early 2010 with no sign of slowing as we turn the corner on 2011.  With more than 40 locations in D/FW, they’ve got their sites set on market expansion for 2012.

La Madeleine Country French Cafes beat their sales goals for the year, and they’ve set the table for more success in the coming year with new locations in several markets and plans to franchise the concept. The food photography and smart menu design work for La Madeleine is among the best LOOMIS has ever done.

Down in Tyler, Texas the good people of the venerable Brookshire’s Grocery Company have chalked up a successful 2011 as they begin their 84th year in business.  A couple of successful promotions and the development of an exciting new customer rewards program are keeping teams at Brookshire’s and at LOOMIS busy.

This year, we helped Cash America in its quest to shift consumer perceptions around the pawn industry by creating a TV campaign focusing on the fantastic retail bargains to be had at their stores.  After all, is there any such thing as a used diamond?  It was fun work, and most importantly it worked.

Durant, Oklahoma is home to First United Bank, and they're on a quest to change the face of the industry.  The exciting culmination of a two-year research and strategy effort came this year as we rolled out the "Spend Life Wisely" campaign.

LOOMIS is moving into its seventh year with Papa John’s Pizza and things just keep getting better, and so does the work.  The agency’s media planning and buying performance is measured against a peer set of other regional shops for the brand, and we’ve consistently performed at the top.  This year, LOOMIS was rewarded for the effort with two new markets.

Of course, there were some nice account acquisitions for LOOMIS in 2011 and we have two great new partnerships to show for it. Schumacher Homes is the largest custom homebuilder in the country, and this year LOOMIS helped them brand and launch one of the most innovative home collections to hit the industry.  The Earnhardt Collection was launched in October in conjunction with Bank of America 500 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and it’s already a terrific success.

LOOMIS was also fortunate to win the Logan’s Roadhouse account in 2011, and the work came at us fast and furious.  The partnership fired up in July and we’re already finishing up our eighth TV production.  For 2012, we’ll be creating an entirely new campaign for the chain aimed at claiming more than our fair share of the casual dining segment.

The year has also served up some great opportunities to collaborate with charitable organizations.  I’m always humbled by the passion our team puts into helping important causes by donating their time and talent – often working late hours and weekends to do so.  This year, LOOMIS branded and helped launch the TeamConner Childhood Cancer Foundation, and is in the midst of doing the same for Love Andrew, a foundation whose mission is to engender empathy and understanding for Autistic children among peer-aged kids.  It’s an incredible project.

Luminous Sound Studios

Meanwhile, downstairs at Luminous Sound things were hoping in 2011.  Gospel music composer and singer Kirk Franklin calls Luminous Sound his home studio, and completed his latest album, Hello Fear, with us this summer.  Here’s hoping it pulls a ninth Grammy for Kirk in February!  Among the other celebrities laying down tracks at Luminous this year were rapper Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu, and Lady Gaga, who recorded a country version of her hit title track Born This Way while in Dallas on her Monster Tour.
Astute observers of the studio this year may also have spotted actor Owen Wilson, country music artists Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, and singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, among others.  All that, plus a ton of great music production and voice work for Texas DQ, Sleep Experts, Logan's Roadhouse, La Madeleine, Bell Helicopter, and roughly 100 small market clients.

We’re finishing out a strong year with our sites focused on making 2012 even better.  The LOOMIS team is the best it’s ever been, our clients and partners are poised for growth, and I’m as encouraged as I’ve ever been about the future.  It’s ours to shape!

Here’s to 2012!
