What's happening inside Lead Maverick's calendar?
Hello, my name is Lauren Ratliff and I am the Assistant Director of Reseller Services for Lead Maverick. I came on board as the "new employee" at the beginning of June 2007. I have really enjoyed my new job at Lead Maverick so far! Occasionally I will be posting updates on current events involving Lead Maverick.
Thursday was the Annual Dallas IABC Joint Communicators Luncheon. Lead Maverick sponsored the event, which was held at the Crowne Plaza in Addison. There was a fairly large crowd of about 200 people in attendance from around the metroplex. Communication experts of all kind: teachers, people in public relations, graphic designers, web designers, small business owners, 9 students, members of the press, people in the radio & t.v. industries, people in advertising, etc…
We were excited to display our new, brightly-colored Lead Maverick banner. It even came with a spiffy carrying case!
[Notice the handsome new banner!]
Sean Jackson, the CEO/Creator of Lead Maverick, and I mingled before the luncheon started. We spoke to a few people who are interested in using Lead Maverick for their business and distributed our new, sleek brochures.

[Sean "Can I offer you a brochure?"]
While Sean and I mingled and passed out brochures to people, Chris Thompson, the lead developer/programmer, documented the event with his camera.
Sean Jackson was allotted a few minutes at the podium to give a general overview/explanation of what Lead Maverick can do for businesses by bringing leads via the internet. He did a great job motivating and inspiring others to inquire more about Lead Maverick in the short amount of time he was given.

As the new employee, I got the chance to sit between two of Lead Maverick’s Resellers, Kevin Lafond with TuZoom, and Jerry Hampton with 1-800-905-Geek. It was good putting names with faces!

Shel was the guest speaker for the event. His topic was: “How Your Organization Can Benefit from Engaging in Social Media.” Shel shared some really great examples of good and bad advertisement campaigns/P.R. from major companies. He focused on a few key points:
* The critical differences between traditional and social communication* The eight critical rules for using social media in organizational communication* The core tools of social media, including blogs, wikis, and podcasts* How "edge content" is becoming more important than visits to your Web site He emphasized how important it is for companies to communicate as REAL people with customers, not to resemble a document chock-full of legal jargon that’s been approved by four different levels of executives before finally reaching the end customer.
Overall, Sean, Chris, and I had a great time, shared a little about Lead Maverick, ate a little, and learned a little too.
