Hi...I'm Chris Thompson, Lead Maverick's Chief Technology Officer.  I joined Lead Maverick in April marking my 10th year in the IT field.

Lead Maverick's IT department is dedicated to providing it's consumers the tools it needs to help make their company as successful as possible.  Whether it's providing "always on" access to the application so you can place your content online, to making sure training documents are in the right place so you can get them at a moment's notice.

How do we do this?

  • Always listening to feedback from resellers, paying customers, trail customers, and random consumers of a web page.
  • Understanding the latest in technology trends, figuring out if it's right for our customers, and placing them into our stable of tools in a way that is transparent to our customers and our customers' customers.
  • Providing a stable environment so that we help broadcast our customer's marketing message to the world.

A little bit about me.

I started my IT career in 1997 with EDS (http://www.eds.com).  After finishing with their Systems Engineering Program, I began my business / technical career.  It was at this time that Microsoft Windows programming and, to a lesser degree, web programming began to become very popular.  Since this was the cutting edge of programming, EDS gave these jobs to the "proven" programmers in it's corral.  In 1998, I saw that being "proven" at EDS, with it's 100,000+ employees was going to be very difficult and decided that I needed to move on.

I took a position with Glazer's (http://www.glazers.com), a leading beer and spirits wholesaler.  I worked as a Windows programmer there and gained a great deal of experience in not only programming but the IT industry in general.  I worked with customers (branch managers, accounting personal, etc) to help develop custom applications that help make their life easier.  It was a great time at Glazer's as they were shedding the image of the "old whiskey salesman" and moving into the 21st century with advanced pricing programs and mobile computing.

From there it was on Optek, Inc (http://www.optekinc.com), where I was the only Windows programmer and general IT guy.  I helped with everything from sales forecasting programs to making sure their Exchange server was always up and running.

After surviving Y2K I moved on to Vertis Technologies (http://www.vertisinc.com) where I was a senior developer.  It was the first time I had a leadership role and missed my days of coding.  While this was the most challenging job I ever had, it was also the most fun.  The goal was to provide creative applications for high profile customers (John Deere, Discover Card, Motorola, to name a few).  I worked with incredible talented people and learned much.

The dot com days hit Vertis and I was forced into consulting for a few months and then took a position with Tyler Technologies (http://www.tylertech.com) as a senior programmer for their property tax assessment applications.

After Tyler I went back into consulting for a few years and then took a job with Ateras (http://www.ateras.com/).

That is were my current position Lead Maverick comes into focus.  Sean Jackson, the creator of Lead Maverick, showed me the potential for Lead Maverick and he and I sat down and started creating the product.

I have to say Lead Maverick is the best of both worlds as far as consulting and full time jobs.  I'm allowed extreme creativity while at the same time keeping within the confines of quality.  Sean constantly pushes my abilities which does nothing but make me grow.

Everything I've learned over the past 10 years has brought me here and I find myself relying on history's lessons to avoid the future's mistakes.  However, for better or worse, I haven't made EVERY mistake so their may be a few stragglers here and there in the future.  It's for this reason I depend on you, the Lead Maverick consumer, to provide feedback that will only help this company grow.
