For the dental office that wants to comply with medical waste regulations, save precious patient time, and reduce medical waste costs, there is a better way.

LevelTen prides itself on discovering top companies throughout the nation that we can share great products, services and information about monthly. This month Jamie Swartz, one of the account managers of LevelTen in the marketing side had the pleasure of talking with Mike Pigozzi, the Customer Service Manager with Sharp Compliance,Inc.

Accidental needle-sticks from improperly disposed syringes are an unwanted reality for thousands of people each year. That's why the Environmental Protection Agency began advising the public of the proper disposal of syringes with the mailback product being a recommended solution. Also, California has passed and other states are enacting legislation that bans needles from residential and commercial trash pick-up.

The solution? The Sharps Disposal by Mail System®.

The Sharps Disposal b y Mail System is the first complete system for the proper disposal of used needles, syringes, and other small quantities of bio hazardous waste. It's the perfect disposal solution for individuals who self-inject, or medical facilities generating small quantities of medical waste.

It is government–approved and includes a specially designed mailable sharps container, a postage prepaid return shipping box with barcode tracking, a protective 4–mil bag liner, instructions in both English and Spanish, and a multi–part simplified manifest tracking form. The cost of mailing, disposal, and confirmation of destruction is included in the purchase price.

When the Sharps Disposal by Mail System sharps container is full, it is placed in the pre-paid postage return box and delivered via the U.S. Postal Service to the Sharps treatment facility. Upon receipt, Sharps documents the delivery, weight, and destruction of each container and its contents. Confirmation of destruction is made available electronically using theCompany's proprietary SharpsTracer™ system.

Another great line of products and services that Sharp offers are:

The Trip LesSystem®
The Trip LesSystem® includes a disposable IV pole and a Sharps Disposal by Mail System® which can be used with or without a Sharps Asset Return System, depending upon whether the patient is using a pole-mounted infusion pump. When therapy is completed the following occurs:

  • IV Pole – When the pole is no longer needed it is simply thrown away.
  • Sharps Container – When the sharps container is full or no longer needed, it is placed in the postage pre-paid return box and returned via the U.S. Postal Service to Sharps for destruction.
  • Asset Return Equipment – When the pump is no longer needed it may be returned immediately via FedEx. Insurance against loss or damage, as well as electronic tracking during transport to your facility offer assurance, asset protection and peace of mind.
