It is de rigueur to complain about traffic in Los Angeles. The Mozaic apartments, the second phase of which opened in February, actually did something to address the problem. The total 272-unit development is at Union Station, meaning there is now a reason for hundreds of new residents to take public transit and leave their cars in the garage, hopefully setting a precedent for other projects in the El Pueblo area. While the rooftop pool and the many restaurants within walking distance in Chinatown are nice amenities, the very fact that developer Lincoln Property Company completed the project is worth noting; the Dallas-based company rescued the development after it was formerly pitched as condos. Now, the inhabitants have upscale units, and Downtown has another vibrant residential hub.
