April 18th is the date for the annual Run for Cover family run/walk to benefit The Samaritan Inn. The 1, 5, and 10k walk/run is presented by 3e McKinney and will take place at the Stonebridge Ranch Beach Club. Individual registration is $20.00 and family registration is $30.00. True Rumors, the high end women's clothing store in McKinney, will be having a huge sample sale on March 19, 20, and 21, featuring new clothing manufactured for stores like Chico's and Coldwater Creek. Incredible bargains will be available and thousands of people are expected to attend. A VIP party will be held on the evening of the 19th for anyone interested in a first look. Tickets are $25.00 and proceeds will benefit the Inn. Tickets may be purchased at True Rumors.
Also on VIP night, True Rumors will host all of our female residents and present each of them with a gift certificate so that they too can shop. We are so appreciative of this incredibly generous opportunity-please make plans to attend.
Story of the Week

The Samaritan InnCarrie is 18 years old and a high school senior. She was raised by her grandparents until she was 5 and then removed from their home because of domestic violence. At that point, Carrie went to foster care and eventually was adopted. Carrie left her adoptive family last year because, she says, they were abusive. She stayed with another family for awhile but was ultimately asked to leave. She came to The Samaritan Inn on January 30th. Carrie is currently in high school but is very behind because of all of the time that she has missed. Our Children's Caseworker is monitoring her attendance on a daily basis and working closely with the school to bring her up to speed. After school, Carrie has a part time job and receives tutoring at the Inn. We hope that Carrie will soon be able to get into City House, the Plano Youth Shelter that has a specific program for homeless 18-21 year olds.
Sincerely,
