Let the sunshine in!Thank you to the anonymous donor who dropped off 300 (yes, that's right 300!) hot dogs last week.

April is National Poetry Month and our supporter John Rigo, a published poet, is donating proceeds from the sales of his two books of poetry to The Samaritan Inn. To review and/or order the books go to: http://texaspoets.wordpress.com/2009/03/31a-fund-raising-program-for-the-samaritan-inn-of-mkinney-texas-by-john-j-rigo-published-poet-and-commentator/

Thank you to Dr. Kahn and Don Hudson from The Center of Preventive Medicine who recently re-decorated their office and donated forty office chairs to us.

Debi Tomkins from the Panther Creek, Ladies of harleyHarley, organized an Easter Egg Run and raised over $2,000 for The Samaritan Inn last Saturday. The ride was 200 miles long and concluded at Nate's Seafood restaurant in Allen. I was thrilled to be there to thank all the riders for their participation.

Looking for a good restaurant? Try Chamberlain's Fish Market Grill (4525 Beltline in Addison) and enjoy Filet Mignon and Alaskan King Crab legs served with onion roasted mashed potatoes at half price-$29.95. This offer is available from April 20 thru April 26 to anyone who brings in two non-perishable food items for The Samaritan Inn.

Story of the Week

The Samaritan InnJackie is 46 years old, the mother of two grown children and separated. She was laid off from her job last year and gave up her apartment. She used unemployment benefits to pay for an extended stay hotel room, hoping she would find work before her benefits ran out, she did find a job, but not in time to pay for another week at the hotel, so Jackie came to The Samaritan Inn.

Since arriving she has continued at her new job (which she loves) and is saving money for a new apartment. Jackie is also hoping to return to college. She has been going part time for several years, recently received two, $1000 scholarships and is now just two semesters short of a Bachelors Degree. While at the Inn Jackie is attending counseling and life skill classes and has a move out date of May 31.
Sincerely,
