Eric Peterson, the reigning web analytics authority and guru, made a guest appearance at the Dallas Chapter of “Web Analytics Wednesday” meeting. Eric is recognized around the world as one of the pioneers of web analytics, has authored numerous books and white papers including: Web Analytics Demystified, The Big Book of KPI's and other popular works that have launched numerous careers and aided countless others in their quest to fully grasp the finer points of web analytics.

Mr. Peterson has worked for a handful of the major analytics software providers in the industry. In 2007 he made the leap to total self-employment by opening his own consulting firm called, what else, Web Analytics Demystified. You can read more about his business activities here.

Web Analytics Wednesday was an idea, like most ideas, birthed from necessity, humble beginnings, and a need to find a way to make the bar tab deductible. WAW meetings are highly informal gatherings, usually monthly, in major cities around the globe where analytics practitioners come together to support a local pub and discuss the web analytics discipline. Quite often there are guest speakers involved as was Mr. Peterson a guest at the Dallas meeting this month.

As if that hasn't been enough to keep him busy, Mr. Peterson is also a founding member of Web Analytics Association, the primary association for the web analytics world. Finally, his thoughts, materials, and other forms of input are used extensively in the University of British Columbia's Web Analytics course offerings of which the author (Phillip Crum) is a very satisfied graduate.

If you're a web analytics practitioner, are entertaining the idea as a career move (a very good idea as there is an extreme shortage of labor in this area and the pay is very, very, good for competent experience) please join us at our next Web Analytics Wednesday meeting. Find out the when and where by clicking right here! And look for Phillip Crum when you get there. He'll be there!
