For the second time, Morgan McMillan was honored as one of 10 “spotlighted” industry professionals for 2008 by Risk Finance Quarterly. The honor was determined based on interviews with industry peers, clients, and insurance carriers.
Morgan McMillan is a Vice President and accomplished commercial insurance expert from McGriff, Seibels & Williams in Dallas, Texas. This is his second time in the Risk Finance Quarterly Global Spotlight.
McMillan’s work focuses primarily on middle market and risk management accounts. He is involved in with the areas of Hospitality, Investment, Healthcare, Senior Living, and Real Estate risk management. He was a candidate for inclusion in the spotlight lists for each area. However, due to his versatile expertise and success in commercial insurance and risk management, Risk Finance Quarterly ultimately decided to place Morgan McMillan atop the “Generalist” category for 2008.
Highlighted in the “Spotlight” are some of Morgan McMillan’s
observations regarding the commercial insurance and risk management
marketplaces. These include:
- Carriers will continue reducing premiums and profits over the next 18 months.
- The soft market will make even the most incompetent broker or agent look good.
- Lack of Underwriting and Risk Management will ultimately bring back the hard market.
- The U.S. economy, Housing, and Mortgage sectors will fall dramatically.
- Credit risks will be offset by a hungry insurance market.
While McMillan clearly possesses a keen understanding of the
fundamentals of the commercial insurance and risk management markets,
his primary focus is always on how that understanding can best benefit
his clients.
According to one client surveyed by Risk Finance Quarterly, “He makes commercial insurance seem professional, smart, and cool at the same. He takes it [insurance] up a notch.”
Another client claimed to have chosen Morgan McMillan as its Vendor of the Year because “he stood out amongst all of the vendors we work with…not just insurance.”
