    Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings
Final accountability ratings for 2008 from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) were released today (August 1, 2008) and Coppell ISD has retained its rating of “Recognized.”  All ten elementary campuses were designated “Exemplary” as were two of the three middle school campuses, Coppell Middle School East and Coppell Middle School North.  Coppell Middle School West and Coppell High School both earned the rating of “Recognized.” Read more at Coppell ISD

Meeting the Challenge: Communications Division Personnel are currently responsible for maintaining continuous 24 hours a day, 365 days a year staffing of the Coppell Public Safety Answering Point. During 2006 Coppell Public Safety Dispatchers assisted with 21,066 Police Department calls for service and 2,638 Fire Department calls for service for an annual workload of 23,704 calls for service. Other duties include operating a multi-channel trunked 800 MHz radio system, dispatching police and fire officers to calls for service, coordinating fire department resources amongst numerous agencies, providing weather monitoring and warning tower activation in the event of severe weather, confirming warrants for out-of-town departments, monitoring the City Detention Facility prisoner population (1534 arrestees in the year 2005), helping citizens with bond paperwork and assisting citizens who visit the Police Department after normal business hours. With changing technologies new challenges have arisen for the communications division. Current projects include "Phase II" wireless compliance through which dispatchers will be provided a geographic location of cell phone callers, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) communications technology, participating in the North Central Texas Council of Governments Interoperability Plan and preparing for and executing the national frequency migration plan.
