There are several cities in the Dallas Fort Worth area that are enticing home owners with government grants. Fort Worth and Irving are two cities that are aggressively going after home buyers. Both cities have received stimulus package money from the government and both are using this money to stimulate the housing industry in their city limits. This is a great opportunity for the buyer and is a great way to keep the neighborhoods, the communities stable. Both grants are for owner occupant only and not for investors. The goal is to help the people who want to purchase a home for their enjoyment and have their families become part of the community, providing tax dollars for the city and money for the local retailers. It all starts with the house!!
The Irving Tx Home Buyer Development Program is geared toward helping first time Home Buyers and people who have not owned a home in the past three years. It was created by the Home Investment Partnership Grant and the American Dream Down Payment Initiative, a branch of HUD. The purpose is to revitalize neighborhoods by encouraging home ownership.
In order to qualify you must…
Be a United States citizen or a permanent legal resident
Have a down payment of $1000 to $1500
Fall into the income levels adjusted by the city for family size
