6) Purchase a home warranty. Along the lines of getting a home inspection. Purchasing a home warranty will relieve stress and add peace of mind to you the first time buyer. If something major goes wrong you are covered. It is worth the money.

7) Goggle the neighborhood. Go to www.ci.irving.tx.us It is amazing the information the internet has about the area you are choosing to live in. Take the time to check the Irving School District, Irving Police Departments crime rate etc.

8) Searching for homes in all the wrong places. Your Realtor knows where the homes are. There is a lot of information on the internet. The problem is that the information is not always current. To get the current information you need to use you Real Estate Agent. The Realtor will save you time and money!
