Thanks, great article on Coach. Seems like Mizzou has got a good one, I hope the fans give him the time and support necessary to bring basketball back.

Mizzou fans need to look at Duke and Coach K as an example – the first few years were tough. But he recruited then and continues now to recruit good, smart players who were first and foremost for the team and the University.  We have traveled to the Great Alaska Shoot-out, the Maui Invitational, ACC and NCAA tournaments with the Duke team and many times their parents, they are great kids who anyone would be proud to call a son. If ever, a mistake has been made in recruiting a kid, Coach K helps them leave the team and Duke gracefully and helps them find another team/school – and not just any school but the likes of Northwestern, Cal Berkley, Arizona State, etc.

Having graduated in 1964 from Missouri, I have been to games in all three of the past and current basketball arenas. I am also a season ticket holder for Duke men’s and women’s basketball. Mizzou arena is a fine facility with fine parking. Those fans, who complain about this and that about Mizzou arena, should have an opportunity to go to a game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. But they can’t, because it was built years and years ago (only in the last six years was air conditioned), has only 9,600 seats, one third of which are reserved for the students, and is annually always sold out. Oh yes, parking; because Cameron indoor Stadium is located in the true campus of Duke, parking is here and there, most of which by day are student and faculty lots, not like a modern stadium on the edge of campus with acres of parking.

Those Missouri fans that complain about Mizzou Arena and don’t support Mizzou Basketball need to wake up and smell the roses. To do otherwise will be to sit home and watch teams other than Mizzou play in the NCAA tournament year after year.
