Men's Basketball - Junior forward DeMarre Carroll was named Monday as the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year, by both league coaches and media. Carroll averaged 13.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in the regular season. Fellow junior forward Leo Lyons was also named to the league's All-Improved team, as voted on by league scribes, for his season that has seen him turn in averages of 13.3 points and 5.7 rebounds a game - including a big stretch run that has seen him post averages of 21.5 points and 12.8 rebounds in the last four outings...
Big 12 Basketball Tournaments - Tiger fans in Kansas City will have plenty of opportunities over the next few days to see their Tigers in action. The first outing will be this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium, as the Tiger women's basketball team will face Oklahoma in the first round of Big 12 Tournament play. Should the women win, they would advance to play Wednesday at Municipal at the same time. Also Wednesday, the Tiger men's basketball team will hold a free public practice at the Sprint Center from 3:45-4:25. The Tigers will then lace it up against Nebraska Thursday in their tournament opener, set for 6 p.m. at the Sprint Center. Should the Tigers win that one, they would advance to play rival Kansas at 6 p.m. Friday...
Wrestling - The Mizzou wrestling team had a fourth-place team showing at the Big 12 Wrestling Championships Saturday in Stillwater, Okla. Two Tigers, junior 197-pounder Maxwell Askren and sophomore 165-pounder Nicholas Marable, won individual conference titles, and seven Tigers in all advanced to the upcoming NCAA Championships, set for March 20-22 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo. The Tigers finished a school-best third overall at the 2007 NCAA Championships, and are hoping to bring home yet another top-10 finish...
Football - Spring football begins this afternoon, as the first of 15 scheduled practices takes place at Faurot Field. Be sure to catch practice reports and updates after every day the Tigers hit the field with Mizzou OSR...
