Tiger Cagers Fall Late At Oklahoma, 75-66
by OSR Staff
Norman, OK - It was an all-too familiar scene Saturday as the Missouri Tigers fell to 16-15 overall and 6-10 in Big 12 Conference play with a 75-66 loss at upstart Oklahoma Saturday in Norman, OK.  In a game reminiscent of a handful of close losses to Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Nebraska and Illinois, Mike Anderson's Tigers played well through the first 30 minutes, but couldn't make plays down the stretch, and gave up a lead only to lose the game.

Mizzou came out of the gate strong, shooting 52 percent in the first on the way to posting a 39-37 halftime lead.  But the Tigers went cold in the second half, connecting on just 36 percent (8-of-22) after halftime, and the Sooners stormed back on their senior to post the win.

The Tigers, who were led in scoring by Leo Lyons and DeMarre Carroll, with 18 points apiece, led by as much as eight points in the first half, and held a five-point lead with just over 16 minutes left in the game.  Over the next 8 minutes, however, the Sooners outscored Mizzou by a 17-7 margin to take a five-point lead of their own with 8 minutes remaining.  Oklahoma stretched the lead to seven points eventually with 4:15 left on a three-pointer by David Godbold, and the closest the Tigers could pull was four the rest of the way.

Up next for the Tigers is the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament, scheduled for March 13-16 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.  It was not known at press time just who the Tigers will face in their opening-round Thursday game.  Stay tuned to Mizzou OSR for more details and a full preview of the tournament.
