Come in today to learn more about the 2009 Lexus GX 470.
The GX 470 has a 4.7 liter V8, the largest offered by Lexus - in the GX it unleashes 263 horses and 323 lb-ft of torque. To complement its robust yet elegant body design, the GX features a color-keyed roof rack, fender flares, and illuminated running boards. Taming this beast is Variable Valve Timing with intelligence which continually monitors and adjust the engine's valves to deliver optimum performance at all times. Two of the most notable GX interior features are the sumptuous leather seating surfaces, as well as the handsome light golden bird's-eye maple trim - which perfectly accentuates the GX shift knob and steering wheel with audio controls.
Now with just a touch of a button, Downhill Assist Control helps travelers descend steepmountain slopes. It works with the Anti-lock Braking System and Active Traction Control tohelp maintain a low, consistent speed while helping to prevent the wheels from locking. Andwhen climbing, the GX offers Hill-start Assist Control that applies the brakes for up to fiveseconds after the brake pedal is released. This gives drivers more time to move their footfrom brake to accelerator. Meaning, even on steep terrain, the technology can actuallyhelp slow the vehicle from rolling backward.
A Lexus driver expects a comfortable ride. But of course not every road cooperates. Forthat reason, Lexus developed the available Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS).By using hydraulic controls to manipulate the front and rear stabilizer bars, KDSSautomatically adjusts for varying conditions, on-road or off-road. By employing thickstabilizer bars on-road, it helps to minimize the vehicle’s body sway in a turn. Off-road,KDSS reduces the inherent stiffness of these bars by allowing one wheel to reactto abrupt changes in terrain while the other wheels remain relatively unaffected. Thisflexibility helps maximize suspension articulation and improves traction. KDSS works in conjunction with Adaptive Variable Suspension, which continuously alters shock damping in response to the driver’s desires and/or road conditions. The result? A more accomplished, smoother ride.
When the brake pedal is stepped on quickly during an emergency situation, this triggers the four-sensor, four-channel Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist [3]. If the system detects an emergency braking situation and the driver does not apply enough pressure to the pedal to activate ABS, the system provides supplemental braking power. And to help provide even greater control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) modulates the amount of fluid pressure distributed to the brakes.
The GX uses a number of scientifically designed materials to help manage impact energy. Its strong welded-steel body-and-ladder frame helps maintain the integrity of the chassis and cabin. Each door is reinforced with a steel beam to help provide side impact protection.
The GX features a Direct Tire Pressure Monitor System. When tire pressure is critically low, the tire pressure sensor in the valve stem, which is linked to the GX's computer, alerts you immediately with a light on the instrument panel. The warning light will blink to alert you in the event of a system malfunction.
This available onboard safety and information service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Should an airbag deploy in the GX, an emergency alert is automatically sent to the Call Center. A Lexus Link® Advisor is available at the touch of a button to dispatch emergency personnel, roadside assistance or provide support in case of a lost or stolen vehicle. For added convenience, the service can also be upgraded to have your Lexus Link Advisor provide driving directions and points of interest. To learn more about Lexus Link®, click here.
The GX features an advanced series of airbags to help protect its occupants in case of emergencies such as certain types of frontal impacts, offset frontal impacts and side impacts. Advanced driver's and front passenger's airbags (SRS) feature a dual-stage system that controls the airbag inflating output by taking into account the driver's seat position on the seat track and the severity of impact. Front-passenger seat-mounted side air bags have an occupant sensor so they will not deploy if the system detects the seat is vacant. The first and second rows of seating have Roll-Sensing Curtain Airbags (RSCA) that are designed to deploy in the event of a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. These can be temporarily disabled for more adventurous off-road excursions.
At the touch of a button, Downhill Assist Control (DAC) helps the GX descend slippery and steep grades. At the top of a downhill area, DAC works with the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) to help keep the GX's speed below 15 mph and prevent the wheels from locking up. Virtually all the driver needs to do is watch the road and steer.
Three-point seatbelts help spread out the energy of the moving body in a collision over the chest, pelvis and shoulders. The GX comes equipped with three-point seatbelts for all seating positions, including Child Restraint Seat (CRS) tether anchor brackets.
To help control a loss of traction in turns, the GX employs Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). This technology uses sensors to detect loss of traction in a turn. Should there be a loss of traction, VSC may apply brakes to individual wheels or reduce throttle to help correct it. Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) directs power to the wheels with the most traction to help control wheel spin on mud, sand and ice.
Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) helps increase control during hill climbing, or stopping and starting on slippery surfaces. While stopped on an incline, a vehicle may roll back once the driver steps off the brake. HAC helps slow down the GX's slipping speed by gently applying the brakes.
