The powerful 4.6-liter engine is the world's first V8 to combine both port and direct fuel injection.  With a high horsepower-to-liter ratio, it has the power of a larger engine.  The LS 460 accelerates from 0 to 60 in as few as 5.4 seconds.

The 2009 LS is equipped with the world's first eight-speed automatic transmission, offering the perfect blend of acceleration, smooth shifting and fuel efficiency.

By injecting gasoline directly into the combustion chamber, the direct injection system results in a more effective mixture of air and fuel.  Not only does this boost overall power, but with the extra control over the air/fuel ratio, mileage is also significantly improved.
